Answer

Hello,

Welcome to Just Answer. It is safe to take Advair. However, if symptoms are worsening, this needs to be discussed with the doctor so that additional drugs can be prescribed. It is the asthma itself that is worsening, not that Advair is causing it to worsen.

Reply to Schuyler_ANP's Post: There was an article that said doctors won't take advair but will prescribe it.
In the warnings about advair they say your symptoms may worsen while taking advair and you can have brochial problems. Should I be concerned about either of these statements and my child's health.

Accepted Answer

Well, two of the doctors in my practice use it, so that makes the first statement suspect. I saw something on AOL the other day that said doctors also will prescribe but won't take Celebrex which is also poppycock. When someone first begins Advair, they may get ENT irritations and other upper respiratory sysmptoms including bronchial symptoms. These usually improve as the body becomes accustomed to using Advair regularly. Advair is your basal asthma medication. One may still need to use albuterol as a rescue inhaler at times. If your adult child is experiencing more and more symptoms, then something needs to be changed so that the asthma is managed.
