Question
I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier V-6 with a supercharger. A month ago, My truck was hit in the rt frt fender, rt door and rt rocker panel, with some dmg to the rt frt suspension. There was no damage to the engine or supercharger itself, it was all sheetmetal and suspension dmg. Now the supercharger is making a noise not noticed before the accident. The Nissan service manager is telling me the bearings are bad and I need a new supercharger. Is this possibly related to the accident? Also, just to let you know, when I was hit, the truck came to a sudden halt.

Answer
There is no way to tell for sure, but if there was insurance, and you make enough noise directed at them; they may cover it. You should argue that during an accident there are big g forces that can seriously damage parts. Your supercharger could have easily been damaged in the accident.
If you wind up eating it you can get the supercharger rebuilt, for a good price. Get the bearings and seals replaced, also get the coupler replaced. Good luck, and Thanks for using Just Answer.

Reply to Dr. Hamman's Post: The insurance comapany guy already told me that they see no correlation between the accident and the super charger bearing needing replacement. They said it is a wear and tear problem, there is no way the bearings can be damaged from an accident. I'm not familiar with this and really can't argue the point. How can the bearings go bad?
Accepted Answer
They have to wear out, or be subjected to excessive force. If you could get the shop that fixed the collision repairs to side with you the insurance company will most likely pay you. Insurance companies pay for delayed mechanical collision damage all the time. Talk to the body shop, and get them on your side. Then it should be a done deal with the insurance company. Good luck, and Thanks for using Just Answer.
