Question

i live in fresno and i came home and found that the left side of my dogs muzzle (cheek) is swollen and it continues under his muzzle. why did this happen is it allergys or did he eat something or how do i know if he got stung? he is a male chiuhuha.

This does sound like he may have been stung or bitten by something. You can give him benadryl at home and see if that helps but if he is having any problems breathing or is developing a rash or hives then it would be best to have him seen by an emergency vet. They will be able to give him medication IV that will work much quicker than giving the benadryl by mouth. If you do give the benadryl at home, use the plain childrens kind. It is given at a milligram per pound and the childrens strength is 12.5 milligrams per teaspoon.
