Question

My dog is about 10 years old. Last night we noticed that she was unable to jump up on the couch. She threw up 3 times this morning. She doesn''t appear to be in pain but she walks very slowly and is having a very difficult time staying balanced. Her vision appears to be affected as well. She leans down to drink water but doesn''t even get her mouth to the bowl before she stars licking for water. Her eyes are moving back and forth in her head slightly from side to side. She will still eat treats and doesn''t appear to be in pain. She wags her tail and still attempts to follow me around. It kind of reminds me of being drunk or tripping. (read about it in a book) Thanks

This sounds like a problem called vestibular disease which is seen in older dogs sometimes. Its an inner ear issue usually.
You can read about it here
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_vestibular_disease.html
It upsets the balance center and that can make the dog nauseated, unable to walk well, and the eye movement impacts them finding food and water so she may need some help with that along with navigating stairs.
It usually will resolve on its own though some dogs do better with antibiotics in case the problem is triggered by an inner ear infection.
Hope this helps you!

It sounds exactly like what is going on. We are mightily impressed. I wish I was in a position to pay more money, but I am not. Even the $9.00 was a tough call. I just graduated from College and I don't start teaching until August. I just felt so guilty about not currently being able to take her to the vet that I had to do something. Thank you for your expertise.

You are welcome and thanks for the accept - I hope she feels better soon!
Just give her a helping hand so she can eat and doesn't fall.
She may end up with a head tilt but that is kind of cute anyhow :)
No worries about a bonus I'm always just glad for an accept! so thanks again!
