Question

I own a 1988 Merkur Scorpio. The problem I am having is when I try to use my heater in the morning it will blow cold and after 30 seconds it gives a 08 code in the display panel where I normally set the temp inside the car. Any idea?

This is a failure code for the temperature door actuator (out of range).Usually the device inside these actuators that is used for a feedback circuit goes open or shorts.Replacing the actuator usually fixes this.
