Question

Our cockatiel, Bernie, has stopped whistling and singing, and also has a little trouble breathing. What is wrong and what can I do for him? He'' been trying to make sqeeking sounds.

He may have a respiratory infection. This is very serious. He needs to be taken to an avian veterinarian for examination and probaby some antibiotics. If you wait, he may die very quickly. I've seen this happen so many times. It's Saturday and you should be able to get him in today if you do it now. Let me know if you have more questions about this.
