Hello,
Please keep your dog resting and do not let him move around unless it is to use the bathroom. Your dog like many shorter legged and longer bodied breed of dogs is prone to back problems similiar to a slipped disc or a herniated disc. The problem is called IVDD> it is actually diagnosed with xrays, and MRI and a Myleogram. For tonight you can give 5 mgs of Plain Buffered Aspirin per pound of body weight. This can be given every 12 hours for a total of two days. The Plain Buffered Aspirin can be given only if the dog is not on any nsaids or has a bleeding problem. You can also make a heat pack out of a sock and some uncooked rice. Place the rice in the sock , tie it off and place in the Microwave. Wrap the heat pack in a towel and place near the back to offer some relief. I am going to give you a couple of links about IVDD. They are geared to Doxies, but should give you some information on the problem and the treatments available. Please see your Vet in the AM. Joan
