2003 Silverado hvac blows cold then ambient air for a few minutes then cold again. I checked the refrigerant and it is good. It did it once before, but that was about 3 years ago and only once. Is there an easy fix to this?

Checked refrigerant pressure with ac blowing cold, pressure is about 35 psi. I have removed the temp control but want to know if that could be the problem before I spend $130 on a new one.

I have not. I tried listening while driving and it starts blowing hot, but can't hear it. I guess I can put it back together and sit there for a while to see if I can tell if the compressor is still running when it blows hot?

Yesterday it blew cold for about 10-12 min then ambient for about 5 min, then cold for 9 min, then hot again for 4 min, then cold again just as I got home. When I checked the refrigerant the first time it was 55 psi and blowing hot, when I checked yesterday it was blowing cold and 35 psi.

I put the temp control back in and ran it for about 40 min with no problems, maybe it fixed itself. I'll get back with you if the problem happens again.
