Dear Imaio - I would have no way of knowing how the account was opened but what is important is to get it closed. You need to send a certified letter to whatever bank opened the account and tell them that you didn't request or apply for the card and you want the account closed.

Make certain you keep a copy of your letter in case there are any future problems. Don not simply call them because you will never be able to prove a phone call was made. There would be no way for me to find out how the account was opened. there are so many internet scams etc that it could have come from anywhere. As long as you get it closed you should be safe.
