My cat had a small litter 3 weeks ago. All the kittens are healthy but we do not want her to have any more. How quickly can I have her neutered and when how quickly will she come into season again. I ask because I don''t want to have to keep her inside. Thanks.

Once the kittens are fully weaned you can have her spayed. I would suggest working on getting the kittens to eat by 4 weeks and they should be weaned at 6 weeks at the latest. It is preferable that her milk is all dried up prior to surgery. At that point mom can be spayed. Cats can be in heat two weeks after delivering a litter and they can even have a continual heat for the rest of the season since cats are polyestrus. I would keep her inside until you can have her spayed. The other alternative is to let her out but be sure to have her spayed within the next 2 weeks. She can be spayed while pregnant but there is increased risk of bleeding during this time.
