Optional Information:

Accepted Answer
According to the California intestate succession laws [see
here
for summary of law] actual state
here.
You would inherit your son's estate as you are the sole heir and this would include your son's portion which he inherited from his mother as an heir to her estate.
When the mother died both your son and stepson would inherit (along with any surviving spouse). Your son's inheritance from his mother does not go away once he dies as it becomes part of his estate which then transfers over to his heir, which in this case would be you.
So based on the information you have provided here, you would inherit your son's estate which includes his inheritance from mom's estate.
