I have a 2000 Buick Lasabre regal. I took it to mechanic because the starter would not work. He said that the starter and solenoid is ok. He says the problem is in the security system. According to the mechanic, If the key in not in the ignition the starting system will not work. He says it must be taken to the dealer in order for it to be fixed. Does anyone know if the mechanic is right. If he is right is there a way to get around taking it to the dealer for 400 dollars?
