why do tongan women like going barefoot

i have always wondered why tongan women enjoy going barefoot is it because in tonga you don,t have to wear shoes or there the traditonal tongan dances are performed barefoot or is it in there blood and part of there culture?

Of all the reasons I can think of for this sort of cultural phenomenon, tradition, climate and normal trail surfaces, are likely explanations, but poverty is also a likely reason too.
