Question

I have a 2003 Waverunner Fx1000ABFx149 cruiser which I just purchased. The first outing it ran great for 31/2 hours then it would not go over 30mph. The second outing it ran great for 1 hour then it would not go over 10mph. When to a Yamaha dealer they said it was possibly a temperture sensor. I looked up the diagrams form the engine/electrical. I found four. One is on the injection pump diagram it is called a thermosensor. The other three are on the # 2 electrical diagram they are thermosensor assy.,thermo switch assy., and thermo switch assy.

Hi Dave,

I went to the Yamaha dealer with my problem. The first time I took the boat out it ran well for three hours then it bogged down and would not go more than 30 mph vs 50+ I took it out the next day it ran well for an hour and bogged down and would not go more than 10 mph. The are no ideit lights lights lite. So the people at the Yamaha dealer said it was a temperture sensor that burned out. I got the diagrams and found four temperture sensors. These are on injection pump diagram item 9 and on the electrical #2 items 27, 29, and 31. The boat is a Yamaha waverunner 2003 FX1000AB FX 140 cruiser. Which sensor should I replace? Thanks, Pete

There is not really a way to tell you which one to replace. The best thing to do is to plug it into the diagnostic computer, which will tell you which one. Otherwise you would need to remove and test each one to find the faulty one. Using the computer is the way to go.
