Question

I have just bought a 3.9 v8 Landrover Discovery automatic and the engine idles at about 1600 RPM, the allen key adjustment on the air intake is adjusted right back and the cable has slack on it, the vehicle snatches when you engage gear because of this, can you help me,

Accepted Answer

The base idle needs to be set with the T4 diagnostic tester or Auto logic. You can not set it just by turning the allen screw ont he top of the upper plenum. This confuses the pcm. You need to take it to the dealer or a shop that has Auto logic to sync the tps and idle air control to the base idle.
