Question

Hi! I have a 1990 Mallard Sprint Class A motorhome with a AC problem. The AC blows cold, and is fully charge. After it runs for awhile the compresser and fan both shut off, then will restart. Lately it is doing it more often. Was told it might be a relay, but have no idea where to look. Any help would be great!! Also is there a web sight to find spec on this RV? Was told when I bought it last year that it had a 100 gal gas tank. I fill it at a quarter of a tank, and only took 48 gals. Not sure if I was told wrong, or is the gas gage could be off that much. Thanks in advance Ed St. Louis, MO.

Answer

I don't know of a place to get the tank specs on that one but if you put a full tank in it and the guage reads wrong it is usually the sending unit but not always, do you have a sadle tank?

Dennis, That wasn't the real question the question was on the AC shuting off. Ed

Answer

oh sorry, are you able to see the unit (the compressor) when this happens? I am wondering if something might be freezing up, possibly the reciever drier? If you can see it is there a lot of frost on anything when this happens?

No,there is no frost, just cold, and hot hose, and I really don't think that would exsplain the blower motor going off with it, and then both coming back on together. Ed

Answer

ok so nothing is freezing up, I asked that because it would shut the blower down too, do you have a multimeter? if so can you see if there is power to the blower and compressor when this condition occurs, if there isn't trace the power wires to their source and you will have found the nightmare, all the best let me know if I can be of further assistance
