Question

Hi, I have a 1995 Z26 Beretta which is leaking coolant from some where in the engine. The coolant has actually mixed in with the engine oil. Now I think that this is a intake manifold gasket leak, but im also wondering if maybe the block could be cracked? Also, what is the best way to clean all of the milky coolant/oil mixture from the engine?

Reply to Kevin's Post: yes i believe it says 3100 on the engine top. the temp. gauge in the dash apparently didnt notify all but one time that the engine was overheating. So the engine has been overheated many times im guessing. Only 2 times did the temp. warning light come on in the dash and I immediatly pulled over and turned off the car and let it sit for a while both times.

these engines are notorious for leaking intake gaskets ....usually external leaks but occasionally leaking into the engine causing the milky condition - however i have seen these intakes changed a couple times only to have to disassemble again further to repair blown head gaskets(traditionally the cause of milky condition usually accompanied by overheating) , now to answer your question - i do not believe you have a cracked block i believe you initially had a bad intake gasket leaking which eventually led to the overheating and consiquently the failure of the head gaskets...on the plus side these cylinder heads are pretty rugged and can usually take being overheated without cracking so you can probablly get away with just having the heads machined (cut flat as overheating tends to warp the gasket/engine block surface) and replacing the head gaskets /thermostat etc. and as far as the best way to clean it out - drain it pour in 2 quart motor oil and 2 quarts diesel fuel or kerosene run for 3-5 minutes and drain again..please be sure to use the green accept button - thanks..let me know if i can assist you further
