what happens if your dog gets a 3 year rabies vaccine a year after it just had a 3 year rabies vaccine, because you had now way of knowing that it already had it?

I can ease your mind right now. Absolutely nothing bad will happen to your dog. If you are concerned, please discuss this with your veterinarian but I can tell you that this happens quite frequently especially in rescue situations where no one knows anything at all about the vaccination history on some of the animals. As long as your dog is not a routine vaccination reactor, everything should be fine.

I just found out that the last time it did have a reaction to the rabies vx. Is it possible for this to happen again

It is possible (and quite often probable) that once a vaccine reaction occurs the first time that it will occur again after subsequent vaccinations. These reactions are usually immediate, however, and quite treatable. If it has been several hours since the double vaccine and you are seeing no problems with you dog, then you are probably out of the woods.
