Hello XXXXXXX
My neice is with Ford. She's done great work with them with Sesame Street and Gap. If an agency likes your child and wants to use them, they will NOT ask you for any money for anything. They will however expect you to be on time for appointments and have your child prepared. Some of the better agencies in NY are

My daughter has been a published model since she was a baby as well. One of the things I've done is get her comp cards done on my own. I had her pictures taken, got the postcards done professionally and had a thousand printed up. Each week I would gather names and number of different agencies, magazines, ect and send her picture postcards out. She did get a few jobs from doing that.

Hello XXXXXXX,
I apologize for not explaining the term. Yes, they are postcards with anywhere from 2 to 5 pictures on them, as well as the child's weight, height, hair color, eye color, and contact info. Like this. It's very possible (as I myself have done it) with the new digital cameras they have to take your own pictures and get cards done (cheaper too). Babies change so much in such a short time, that might be the best idea, having a few shots and taking new ones every two months. You could also do a website if you have the time and inclination, and could update the pictures on a more regular basis. You don't want to spend a lot of money on photographers and such, when the baby will look totally different a few months later. :)
When it comes to babies, it's not always about how they look, but about how they act, basically their temperament. Can they sit under lights, do people make them jumpy, will they go to anyone without crying? You'll want to socialize her as much as possible and hope for the best, because when it comes to modeling, they can either do it, or they can't.
Print photography doesn't make that much money, unless they use the baby's likeness for reoccurring use (cereal, diapers, etc) in such a situation the agency will negotiate a particular 'buy out' price. Television and movies is where the best money is. They are usually controlled/contracted by SAG/AFTRA. It's a union for actors, and specifies fees and residuals, usage limitations, etc. The more exposure the commercial gets, the better the pay. Contracts will cover things like how long a baby can be on set, how much they make, etc.
Let me know if you have any other questions
That sounds great. Aside from the places I noted above, I would say to pick up your local yellow pages, or better yet, a Manhatten yellowpages or yellowbook. I say this because the web is oversaturated with garbage, andthe phone book is updated all the time, so you would find the most current info there. You can also look through the web for sites that use babies and if they are in NY ask how you can send them pictures or a comp card, most will go through agencies. Go to any stores that use babies in their advertising and ask for the manager, ask how they get their models (preferably having the baby with you, looking as cute as possible). I know one mom who got through to Gap in this way. Again, I cannot stress enough, that if they ask you for money, just walk away. Here's a link with some stories.
