i have a sears lawn tracter 27hp.hydrostadic dr.as soon as i start downhill, the engine will backfire. when i level outrun fine it will

You may have a leak in the exhaust manifold. Check that the bolts are tight on the exhaust manifold and/or the exhaust system.

also your carburetor may be running a little rich. As the motor powers down going downhill then the excess fuel would ignite in the exhaust. Have you checked that your air cleaner is clean? A plugged air filter can cause the motor to run rich.
