Question

I have a 1999 E46 BMW 323i.. the earlier production years of 1999. I have an automatic GM transmission that is acting up. i have 129k miles on it. When the car is cold the car wont move unless you really give it gas. The transmission and check engine light also come on when i get on the gas to much. i cant feel any problems with how the car shifts, but the transmission light comes on even when im cruising around 50-60mph. When I put the engine on the computer, it read "error switching into 5th gear". Should i do a transmission flush even though its a sealed transmission?

Answer

DONT have transmission fluid changed , there is a good chance the transmission won't work after a fluid change . My recommendation is to have the dealer scan the codes , check the fluid level and condition and perform a test drive to get a good accurate diagnosis and then proceed from there . Could be as simple as low fluid .

Thanks and let me know how this works out for you .
