Question

Honda Accord 1996. Battery seemed dead so it was given a jump and nothing happened. The Battery was replaced, and now when you turn the key, it doesn''t start and makes a small click sound, and nothing more. What can this be?

Hello and thank you for choosing Just Answer.

This is going to be a bad starter. I suggest that you take the starter off the car and have it tested. Autozone will test the starter out of the car for free.

There is no noise when the key it turned, so could it be the cylinoid (sp?) instead of the starter?

Answer

The solenoid is a part of the starter. Yes, either the solenoid is bad or the starter is stuck (you would hear a click on either one).
