Question

Hi. I have a cockatiel who is sickly with watery bowls. I m not sure if it urine or what but that and the whezzing have me concerned. She gets sleepy easily, she sits on one leg some of the time, its not often that I see her do that, she plucks out a few feathers here and there. What do you think is going on? Thanks

She sounds like a pretty sick bird if she's wheezing and sleepy. These are signs of serious illness in a bird. She could have a respiratory infection or an intestinal infection, or both. I'm afraid if you wait until Monday to get her to a vet, she might not survive. Even if she doesn't look all that bad now, once they start getting sleepy or wheezing, they take a turn for the worst very fast. I'd recommend getting her to an emergency facility tonight if possible. Here is a web site to help you find an emergency room, but call first and make sure they see birds.
