Info Request

Hi there!

Welcome to Just Answer! I would like to help you and your dog but need some more information, please.

How long ago did he get into the mothballs?

How much does he weigh?

Is he unconscious?

Fiona

Answer

Hi again,

I am REALLY worried about your dog!!

There are 2 kinds of mothballs, with Naphthalene being the more dangerous type. If your dog ate as little as one mothball, it could be fatal depending on the size of your dog!

The most common problems seen are vomiting, blood disorders in which the blood can no longer carry oxygen, lethargy, and seizures. Liver and kidney problems can occur. Seizures, coma and death could develop in severe cases.

If your dog has eaten mothballs and it happened more than 2 hours ago, or he is unconscious, you need to see a veterinarian IMMEDIATELY as he may die otherwise. This is very serious!

My fingers are crossed for you both and you will be in my thoughts...if this has been helpful, please accept my answer, or click on reply if you need more information.
