Question
i have an 88 VW fox. i brought it to colorado from missouri. since bringing the car to the mountains for a day of snowboarding, it wouldnt stay started. since this, i have replaced my fuel filter hoping that would be a solution. but the problem persists. the main thing is, i start the car in the morning when its cold. it starts up, revs up to about 4-5000 rpms then dies out. i do this for about a couple of minutes until it starts to "warm up" then after it warms up, it drives fine, well with the exception that i dont seem to have the acceleration and power that it had prior to taking it to the mountains. im stuck please help me out

Answer
The computer may need to be recalibrated for the high altitude. That changes the fuel mixture.
