Question

Hello, It seems as though my trim switch on the end of the throttle/gear lever is reversed, when I put it down, the outdrive goes up and when I put it up the outdrive goes dow, This is a 2004 Regal 1800 with a volvo 190hp. How do I reverse this switch? Can you provide me with detailed info, I already looked at the electrical switch on the power steering pump and the green wire is attached to green and the blue attached to blue. Thank you.

Answer

Hello. All you should need to do is to reverse the connections at the switch. Don't change the black (ground), just reverse the other two.

Reply to Captain Dave's Post: Hello again, thank you for your reply, but I am unclear, do you mean that I have to take apart the throttle/gear lever and access it that way? If so how do I do that? Also the cut-off switch has been cut, I do not want to replace that wiring, but will that be an issue for me?

Accepted Answer

Hi. The cut-off switch shouldn't matter. Without seeing your exact throttle handle, I can't tell you exactly how to access the switch, but it should disassemble easily and be fairly obvious. It is possible that the switch portion is just held in by screws, or even a plastic spring-fit. The wires themselves may be connected with simple spade connectors that will just pull off and push back on.
