Hi Thomas,

Welcome to Just Answer,

If your 1999 was the classic body style it is considerably different than the 2002. The classic body style had an inner an outer tapered roller bearing. The newer body style uses a sealed hub/bearing assembly.

Once the caliper and rotor are removed, remove the bolts from the backside of the steering knuckle to remove the hub assembly. You will also need to remove the wheel speed sensor harness, the factory hub usually comes with a new sensor.

Here is a diagram of you 2002 wheel bearing hub assembly.

Then this hub does not need the large socket? but do I need a puller?

No, You shouln't need a large socket, unless it is 4wd.

No puller either, once the bearing bolts are removed the hub assy. should just pull right out by hand, make take a little rocking back and forth.

Answer

No problem, basic procedure still the same, there is just have a drive axle through the center of the hub bearing assy.

Remove dust cap.

Important: Do not reuse the nut. A new nut must be used when installing the wheel drive shaft. (new one should come with hub assy)

The next Picture is factory procedure, but sometimes a couple of hits with a heavy hammer will release axle form hub, be sure to put old nut on end of shaft to avoid damage to shaft.

A quick note, forgot to add the shaft will just hang there and hub will slide off, It does not need to be removed from vehicle.
