Hi XXXXXXXX,
Thank you for using Just Answer.
The quick stuff is to check that the coils are all clean. If not, vacum them clean so there's no dust and stuff restricting air flow.
Check switches on doors. They are an easier fix.
Check for the sound of the fan and blowing into the freezer and/or refrigerator.
How old is the unit?...... More than 10 years old and you would save a good deal of electricity (and money) by replacing the unit instead of fixing it.
If it's the compressor it's an expensive repair (even if you can get the parts and do it yourself).
I hope this helps.
Bernie
The evaporator fan in some models is controlled by a door switch so that it comes on when the door is closed (and stops when the door is open).
If the switch is bad, then the refrigerator may become warm as a result of the evaporator fan not engaging and the light inside remaining on to cause more heat.
If you don't hear this fan when the door is open try pushing the door switch to see if the fan comes on. In order to test it further you will need to remove the back panel of the freezer compartment . After removing the fan motor it should read 0 ohms when you test it with an ohm meter on the leads. If not 0 ohms - replace the fan .
