Hello there,

How long have you had the IUD? Do you have any other medical problems, and are you on any medications.

it will be about 2 years now and and I never had a problem like this. Cancer does run in the family, but thats breast cancer and I just want to the doctors and they tested me and everthing was ok.

Hello again,

When you have an IUD, and experience bleeding, it is necessary to be evaluated by your OB/GYN. If you have had this device for 2 years, and no problems, then all of a sudden are experiencing bleeding, then it is a cause for concern. It could indicate that your IUD is causing expulsion, or perforation, or even possibly pregnancy. Pregnancy is rare, but it does happen however. You said you just visited your doctor, however if he did not run tests for pregnancy, std testing, and check your IUD to make sure no perforation etc., then this should be done. Spotting is however a side effect of an IUD, but usually this is seen within the first 3 months after getting the IUD. You should visit your doctor or seek a second opinion to determine the cause of the bleeding. You may try Planned Parenthood as they are very experienced in dealing with this. Thank you so much!
