Question
I pulled the Transmision pan off of my F-150 2wd 1/2ton to replace the filter and fluid and I found a part in the bottom of the pan. The part has a shaft about 1.5in long and a round head app.3/4in in diameter with a groove for an o-ring and the tip of the round part is tapered. Where does this go or do I even have to worry about it?

Answer
Thanks for the accept. But in answer to your question, that is a shipping plug used to block off the transmission dipstick tube hole, prior to its installation into the vehicle during assembly. Once installed into the vehicle, the dipstick tube and handle are inserted into the transmission case, pushing the shipping plug through to the pan, until the first transmission pan removal.
