Question

I''m replacing the motor to my power windows. The window is all the way up and my manual says I have to have it in the down position in order to remove it. The motor is totally gone and the window won''t move. Is there anything I can do?

Answer

There really is nothing you can do, you can still get the job done you just might need to improvise a little. Sometimes you can unbolt the track from the window and pull the window up by hand, or you may need to unbolt the motor and reposition it so you can unhook the window in some other way.

Reply to zzdaryl's Post: I just want to replace the motor, do I really have to remove the window in order to do this. And my problem is that the window is in the UP position and the manual states it has to be in the DOWN position.

Answer

Sorry I miss read your post, but they usually need to be in the up position to remove. If you can get it out in the up position you should be alright. Can you get to the motor with it up?

I was going by what the Haines maual says to do in order to replace the motor. It states to have the window in the DOWN position in order to unbolt it from the sash. The motor is attached to scissor type arms which can not be removed out the hole in the door with the window in the UP position. How can I get the scissor type arms to the collapsed position when the window is stuck in the UP position. So I can extract the scissor type arms through the hole in the door.

Answer

If you unbolt the scissor part you can usually let the window down enough to get the arms off the window sash. After you get the arms off the sash the scissor part will fold up.
