Question

The right rear view mirror turned down for the reverse position while car was in reverse (motor on the mirror made hum noise) then did not return to normal driving position when transmission was put in drive. I attempted to adjust the malfunctioning mirror with the adjustment switch and the mirror would only adjust side to side and not up and down. I then tried to adjust the left mirror with the control and it would only adjust up no matter where I directed the switch..... The car is a 2004, 325ci (convertable) with 45,000 miles and just out of warranty. What do you think the problem is?     thanks

Hello. I have seen this problem before. The problem is the mirror motor itself and will need replacement. If your vehicle is just out of warranty then ask the dealer to "goodwill" this repair and BMW might pay for it as the vehicle just came out of warrenty. The install will take aprox. 2 hours and should fix the problem for you. Let me know if you need any more information. Thank you.
