Question

18 year old male, after dropping out of high school, couldn''t find a job and decided to go back to high school. He often refuses to go to class and it is believed he re-enrolled so that the parents could not kick him out. Parents now want him out but have heard that parents cannot do this if the 18 year old is still enrolled in high school. true or false?

(a) Every parent who refuses, without lawful excuse, to accept his or her minor child into the parent's home, or, failing to do so, to provide alternative shelter, upon being requested to do so by a child protective agency and after being informed of the duty imposed by this statute to do so, is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500). (b) For purposes of this section, "child protective agency" means a police or sheriff's department, a county probation department, or a county welfare department. (c) For purposes of this section, "lawful excuse" shall include, but not be limited to, a reasonable fear that the minor child's presence in the home will endanger the safety of the parent or other persons residing in the home."

pastordude:This is NOT a minor child. He is eighteen, dropped out last year, attended a year of JC, while living with bio parent and step parent. He passed his class but got his 6th speeding ticket in the last year and had his license revoked. He decided to go back to high school but is not attending clas on a regular basis and has been using pot, been caught once by Nevada police in possesion with, and generally has an "entitlement" attitude that prevents him from obeying the house rules etc.
