Question

Just had the rear main seal on my Chevy Tracker replaced to repair an oil leak. Picked up my car, drove it 2 miles down the road and parked. When I started my car again, I wasn''t able to change gears in my automatic transmission - the gear shift moved smoothly up and down the gears with no engagement. What now?

Hello XXXXXX,

The transmission is shifted from inside the to the transmission by a cable & housing. There is a good possibility that the cable or housing did not get resecured properly to the transmission. This would be the first place to look.

Reply to john's Post: If that's the case, can you estimate how long it would take to secure it properly?

Answer

If that "is" the problem It should take no longer than half to 1 hour if no pieces are missing. The cable housing snaps into a square hole & has locks & the cable is a ball & socket configuration.
