Question

I have two puppies (both of which are over 3 mnonths old). Yesterday they decided to tear up a a vinyl flooring I have in my bedroom (i bought it at home depot it's the kind offlooring that comes rolled up if that helps). Well they ate some of it. Mu Pom threw up last night a little and threw up pieces of flooring. My mini Pinscher threw up a little of her food. I kept them under observation and they seemed to be doing fine. This morning, they both went to the bathroom as usual, i notice that my pom was getting ridof some ofthe flooring in his feces. My Pin however, threw up her entire breakfast. Then my pom threw up and i notice pieces of the flooring in his vomit as i cleaned it up. They both seem to be alright, he is as hyper as always. She on the other hand seems to be a little calmer than usual ( although she is very mellow for a pin min in the first place). I have stayed home from work to observe them. Should I just go straight to the vet or go if they vomit again?

Hi Twilightdreamz,

The problem with dogs ingesting non food items is that they can cause intestinal blockages. It sounds like the pieces are traveling through the one dog's system and are being found in the feces of that dog. However, the mini-pin sounds like it might have caused a blockage. I'm going to give you a site to read on intestinal blockages.

Keep an eye on her, looking for additional symptoms. It may be that she has rid her body of the problem, but if she continues to vomit or seems unable to defecate in the next day or so, you should have her seen.

I hope this information is helpful to you.
