Question

My 2 small brussels griffons just ate most of a large bag of peanuts in the shell. Will this harm them-what should I expect? Both females, one weighs 17 lbs, the other 16 lbs.

Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXX,

Peanuts themselves are not toxic to dogs. However, dogs like humans can be allergic to peanuts, so you do want to keep an eye out for an allergic reaction such as swelling. If they consumed all the shells as well, you will want to keep an eye on them for signs of obstruction which would include vomiting, and squatting without a bowel movement or diarrhea, you will want to have them seen. You can read about this here:

I hope this information is helpful to you.
