Hello,

Yes you can clip your dog. She will look a bit funny with shorter hair but as long as she has enough hair to keep warm given your climate and the dog's housing situation, it is OK to clip.

However, clipping doesn't stop the dog from shedding. She will still shed - she will just shed shorter (clipped) hairs instead of long hairs. This is because shedding is triggered by the changing light - she is growing in her new (summer) coat and the old (winter) hair needs to fall out for the new hair to grow in. Clipping doesn't stop this from happening. It is easier to brush a clipped coat and clean up the shedding from a clipped coat since the hairs are much shorter.
