Dear XXXXXXXX:
Thank you for your question.
The situation is very unfortunate, but if you father used his vehicle as collateral and is now unable to pay the loan, they have the right to take his vehicle. He does not have a lot of options; however, he be able to renegotiate the terms of his lease. Perhaps if he agrees to pay higher amounts of money or a higher interest rate, they will give him a month's wiggle room on the loan. This is not a given, but merely an idea for him to contact the company and see if they will work with him. Other than working with him, which the company is under no obligation to do, he really does not have any other options.
Despite the fact that he was persuaded by his sister into getting the loan, this is probably not enough to claim duress or that he did not enter into the loan voluntarily.
Please let me know if you have any other questions on this matter. Otherwise please hit "ACCEPT", so I may receive credit for my response. Tips and feedback are appreciated.
Good Luck!
