Question

I got a speeding ticket the other day, I was in the left lane and the officer was in the right approximately a quarter mile ahead of me yes I said ahead of me. There was a lady in front of me, that by the time we reached the back of the police officers bumper, had slowed me down to 45 miles per hour. Right then the Police officer threw on his lights and siren and pulled me over saying that I was going 73 mph. He said he used Simcar to track me. And he tried to make a total ass out of me when I stated that I didn''t agree with the speed because of the lady in front of me. He said yeh right you were going 45mph and I was going 60. Is fighting the ticket the right thing to do

If you have the time to attend a hearing it is worth it if you feel that you were not traveling at the speed the officer stated. But you will have to prove that you were not speeding and that is unlikely to happen when there was no radar gun but you could question him about how he determined you were speeding if you can find fault with his method.

Have you ever heard of simcar? he said it is a device that he can look in his rear view mirror and click it when I get to a certain point and then when I reach another point he would click it again. I don't understand how you can see that well from your rear view mirror.

Answer

I have never heard of it and it sounds like it is a very subjective test that relies on his word and no scientific or other measurable evidence. So if you can convince the judge or jury that his method is very falible then you have a good chance to win.
