Question

My kitten/cat is nearly a year and has been abused physically including choking, getting thrown, punched, kicked, and outright mis-handled. She had a bad swollen head for a few days from being punched and about two days later after the sweeling was gone a large bump/mass seemed to grow overnight on the back of her neck between her spine and left ear.I don''t know exactley the location, I do not want to get too physical with it.Her bahavior is still good and loving(if not more so). The only change in her I see is a slight shaking of her head when she gets up, wakes up, here and there she will give a slight twitch as if to shake it off. Otherwise she seems o.k. but, like I said, this was overnight and has only been 24 hours since. I removed her from the abusers reach for good but cannot afford a vet check. I cannot bear the thought of losing her, please help us.

Answer

Hi XXXXXX,

I'm afraid in this sort of situation the best thing is the vet. If she's suffered as much trauma and abuse as you've described she really needs to have a full examination by vet to determine the extent of her injuries.I've attached a link that will help you understand the possible problems she can suffer from such trauma.

Please let me know how she goes and give her loads of love from me.

All the best with her.
