Hi there!

I'm sorry to hear that you and your cat are dealing with this. Can you tell me more about it, please?

When was your cat's chin last normal?

Did this come up suddenly (hours) or over a longer period (days or weeks)?

Is it painful?

Is your kitty indoors only or does she go outside?

How are her appetite and energy levels?

Reply to Dr.Fiona's Post: she has been with us 3 months and we converted her to an indoor cat. She was checked by a vet and hadall her shots 3 months ago. She had some eye drainage forwhich she was prescribed klavsmox 62.5 2 times daily . Her chin has been getting inflamed over the last two weeks. I don't think it is painful but when I touch it she doesn't like it. Her apetite and energy level is within normal limits. I have changed her name to jay leno .

Poor cat! LOL about Jay Leno!

Can you look closely at her chin and see if there are any scabs on it? Any pus?

Reply to Dr.Fiona's Post: yes she has some roughness under her chin. I also looked in her mouth and saw swelling and a small cut. I think I have to take her in tomorrow to get checked out. God bless you. Joe

Joe,

I think taking her in is a great idea!!

The things that I would wonder about would be severe chin acne, an abscess or an infected tooth root abscess. I definitely think that she is going to need some antibiotics, so taking her in is the best idea so your vet can prescribe them.

Best wishes! Fiona
