Hello. I will try to help you with this. If you do not find what you need I can always opt out and give another master a try. As a dealer Master Tech, we do not rebuild transmission but ony replace with a remanufactured trans. But I have located a site that can provide rebuild manuals for transmission.

http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/site/573683/page/267592

Check out this site, as I think you will be able to find the manual at a good price.Thank you and let me know if I can help further or if you can't find the manual you need so I can relook or give another master a chance. I think this is the site for it though.

Thank you for the accept anyway. I wish I had access to the manual for you but even BMW NA does not even give technicians this information. Just as a note, you could check you local transmission shops and they might be able to get you a paper manual at a good price.

Thank you.

the manual i found with your help was $459.00. I can get the whole valve body rebuilt at Eriksson ind for $450.00 . Just how hard is it to take the valve body down? I have rebuilt engine before and manual transmisson but never got inside a auto transmisson? thanks for your help Steve

Hello. Am I correct in assuming this is an e38 and not an e65? I might be able to assist you with this.

Thanks all the numbers i can find are A5S 560Z also to answer your question it is a E32 . This what i have found out the car upshifts and downshifts just fine no hard shifts or bad noises. it does not want to go in reverse they say that some check ball in the valve body has wore down in size and now is stuck in a small tube or hole that it was supossed to block off. does that sound right to you. 1994 740il 4.0 L engine trans A5s 560z also ZF5 HP30 are some other numbers i keep comming up with. thank you very much Steve

A5S 310Z is the only one listed for an e32 in the BMW repair manuals. I would think replacing the valve body should not be that hard except make sure you are removing only the bolts that hold it in place by looking at the replacement part. As for the internal problem, I can not be sure. In the dealership if we say this problem we would rec. replacement of the entire transmission. We do not do much internal work at all. I have included these instructions below. I wish I could be more helpful. Let me know if you can think of anything else and I'll see if I can help.
