If the child is to be punished due to this then yes, they must provide evidence as to who or what gave them the information to do such. If the information came from a minor then they do not have to legally tell you. They can state that it came from a minor. I suggest that you strongly suggest at the meeting any documented or written evidence against her. If they refuse to provide such and continue with a punishment then go before your school board and/or retain an attorney to assist you. They need to produce the evidence to support the claim. reply if needed.
