Hi XXXXXX. Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer.
Can you tell us the Model of you Chevy?
Thanks
Hi again.
Now that I know it is a 2 door, can you tell me the model?
Something like Cavalier, Impala, Malibu - like that.
Sorry for the delay - I moved my computer and had some connection problems.
Let me just verify which light is NOT working.
Driver side (left) or Passenger side (right). And the high beams are both working, correct?
Hi again - Sorry to get back to you so late.
Here is the schematic of the headlight system, with the low beams marked in Blue.
I believe what you will be looking for is a loose splice in the wiring harness between the two headlights. You may note S244, which is the splice, and the documents say that this splice is located in the forward lamp harness, approximately 56.5 cm (22 in) from the C101 connector. The C101 connector is located under the battery tray, as shown in the diagram below.
What I would do is try to follow the Dark Blue wire (on Pin A of the connector) from the driver side over to the passenger side, and see if you can find that splice. You have to take some wires out of their protective cover to find it. You can also go to the passenger side connector and see if you can see any damage to the connector or the Dark Blue wire.
You might also note that Pins A & C of the headlight connectors are actually providing a path to Ground, and that Pin B will have the power applied at all times. So if you use a jumper to ground pin A on the passenger side, the low beam light should come on.
As for the service light, you should be able to have the car connected to a code reader to figure out why that light is on. Many auto parts stores will offer this service for free, in hopes of selling you parts. But if you do this, just write down any codes that are found and bring them back here.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have more questions about this issue.
Take Care, Greg A.
