Question

My son made a stupid statement while talking to his girlfriend at college about killing himself and her too. She reported it and he was put into a hospital for two days. While he was there the dean of students called to talk to him--she wanted to bring a group of people up to see him--he said No. She as well as another staff came to see him but at his request the nurses would not let them in. Another couselor from the school faxed over papers for him to sign so that the school could receive all of his medical records. The VP of Student affairs told me that all he needed to resume his career at their school was verification from a licensed professional that he was not a danger to himself or anyone else. My son got out of the hospital today and the VP of student affairs is not in his office. He has not answered our calls. They have locked him out of his apartment. It seems everyone at that school knows his business. What are our rights according to HIPPA and how can he retrieve belonging
