Hello XXXXXXXX_XXXXX,
The worker would not have the right to do that unless you signed something allowing them to take over your finances, or unless they had a court order. If I were to advise you, I would say to pick someone on your own, someone you REALLY trust, and give them Power of Attorney and limit it to do a few things for you, to get that worker off your back.
Another thing you could do is to get a "family management" type place to pay your bills for you. They do not have responsibility to decide where your money goes, just to make sure your water bill and so on are paid.
So many people are quick to jump on people who are ill or house bound and think they don't have any sense anymore. Take the initiative and get someone else to help you out. Just be very very sure that you can trust the person that you give this responsbility to. Family members are good sometimes, but not always. Be careful.
If it gets too bad, call Legal Services right away and tell them what is going on. They will be able to help you. I wish you the best of luck.
