Hello,
The only way to find out why someone is not getting pregnant despite proper family planning is to have an exam, blood tests, and scans. It frequently takes a year or more of trying to become pregnant, even when everything is timed perfectly.
Fertilization can only occur when there is an egg available to fertilize. Ovulation occurs about mid-cycle (about Day 14 of a typical 28-day cycle). The egg lives for only 24 hours. Sperm lives for up to 5 days after ejaculation. The best time to have intercourse is from 5 days before ovulation to the day afterward. You can try charting your ovulation with a basal body temperature thermometer available at any pharmacy.
