Question

I am fostering a min pin for the last one week. She seems to have a runny nose; keeps licking her nose and breathes like she has a blocked nose. Other than that, she eats and drinks fine. She also poos and pees normally. No issues there. Should I be concerned?

Answer

This could be a nasal infection from an inhaled foreign item, a fungal infection, a remenant of an upper respiratory infection such as either
kennel cough

or canine influenza
www.marvistavet.com/html/body_canine_influenza.html
or it might be a sign of nasal mites or distemper or even be a draining tooth abscess that is running into the nasal area if her teeth are bad.
If you suspect upper respiratory then you can see if some Robitussin DM will help the dog breathe better and control any cough or sneezing or runny nose. Read here about cautions and dose info

If the discharge is colored that indicates infection and vet care should be sought.
Hope this helps you!
