Dear XXXXXXXXXX,
Please let me a little more about your question - you are concerned that your husband was recently sick with 8-10 days of night sweats - what are you asking about a possible connection to?
DrS
I see your other question regarding psa levels being unchanged and I will try to answer both questions.
1) PSA levels immediately following radiation therapy have actually not been shown to predict long term success after treatment, so this should be reassuring to you. It will be the long term monitoring of your husband and his PSA levels that will determine the course, but you should not be concerned about either a transient elevation or plateau of the PSA level. Here is an article reviewing the recent study that was done: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/490842
2) Night sweats can be associated with a number of problems including an infection or cancer - but it is non-specific. The fact that you mentioned that it lasted for 8-10 days and is now resolved with his feeling sick, suggests that this was related to a febrile illness that has resolved and is likely should not be an ongoing concern.
I hope this is helpful and I am here if you have any additional questions. I wish you and your husband the best of luck during this difficult time.
