Answer

An x-ray is what would tell you for sure if there are breaks in the ribs.
If you have a pekingese mix, and she is showing pain, I'd tend to be suspicious of a possible spine or neck problem as they are really prone to those.
If you want to list more of the symptoms I can see if I can help you more or you may just want ot get her in to see a vet for a full check up.
Hope this helps you!

Reply to Nancy Holmes's Post: friday about noon I noticed her cowering down & her stomach seemed hard however after 24 hours of boiled chicken -rice & pepcid she was/is pottying normal...however today her right front rib cage seems very tender when you try to pick her up.
she ia able to jump up from the floor to my recliner. she doesn't have much appetite either?
is there a pain med I can give to see if the tnederness goes away?

Answer

You may want to read here about pancreatic inflammation
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1580&articleid=335
as that may be a part of her pain issue.
It is also possible she is having pain from a liver issue.
With your description either is possible.
If she sustained a blow she could have damage to a rib or her diaphram or liver or spleen.
Any of those injuries could cause disinterest in eating.
I would not give her a pain med. The only safe one is aspirin and if she has internal bleeding that is not a good choice.
You can try a cool/cold compress on the sore area to see if that helps with pain or inflammation.

i was talking with my daughter who watched her this week & she saind she dropped her 2/3 feet when she was putting the dog in bed with her!...if we give her aspirin is 81 mg ok or should we use a baby aspirin?

Accepted Answer

If you want to use aspirin here is a good site going over cautions and info on proper dose for your size dog

I would plan on a vet exam for her in case there are more internal injuries.
